Rebuilding after the earthquake
On 10 August 2026, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake centred on San José del Palmar damaged or destroyed more than 210,000 homes and affected over 361,000 people. We work alongside families across Chocó, Cali and the Eje Cafetero as they rebuild their homes and their livelihoods.

Our response
We work on four fronts, prioritising what communities themselves identify as most urgent and hiring locally wherever we can.
Emergency shelter
Shelter kits and materials for families whose homes are uninhabitable, with support continuing until repair becomes viable.
Clean water
Household filters, storage, and repair of the rural aqueducts the earthquake damaged.
Medical care
Supplies for mobile teams in areas where health centres were put out of service.
Rebuilding
Repairing homes and schools using local labour, so recovery also sustains the local economy.
